Weather Inspired Mani.....

Yep so this happened......

I took this yesterday morning after I got off work....we got 5 more inches after that.
So I busted out a little Manglaze and a smidge of Lacquistry Winter No. 2. for this mani below.
I bought this sucker back in 2013....I feel like I should be shamed for not using it till now.

This polish is made up of all kinds of glitter shapes: shreds, hexes, bars and squares. Blue/white/silver is the color theme.
I did one layer of Manglaze Mayo and one layer of Winter No. 2. I topped everything off with Girly Bits Glitter Glaze (review to come soon). Winter No. 2 is really easy to use and the glitter spread out nicely. All pictures were taken with artificial light since the sun doesn't exist in Iowa.

A Blinding Polish and Nail Water Decals

I have an amazing polish to show off today. China Glaze Glistening Snow from the 2012 Holiday collection. This polish blinded me! It has so much spakly goodness with very fine silver holo glitter. I used three coats because there can be some bald spots on the first coat.
I also experimented with some water decals from RLR Creations which you can check out at http://www.etsy.com/shop/RLRCreationsNailArt. These were incredibly easy to use. All you have to do is cut out the picture  you want and then set it in water for 10-15 seconds. It slides off easily and then you place it on your nail. Now I got my nail slightly wet. That way I could slide the image around until I had it placed in the right spot. I let it dry and then I used my usual top coat, Sally Hansen Insta-Dry. The image lasted two days (well until I changed my polish, sorry no after picture). The image is slightly hard to see but I think this is due to the polish being so bright.
Now for someone who cannot stamp to save my life these nail decals are a great way to add some fun to my nails! I recommend!! RLR has a great selection.

Whimsical Idea's By Pam: Seuss

Another Whimsical Idea's By Pam. Today it's Seuss, a light to medium blue with silver and red glitter. I'm pretty sure it's a tribute to Dr. Seuss. The colors would definitely go along with ones you would see in his books.
It's another great polish! I used two coats and topped it with China Glaze Fast Forward.

Lynnderella Shape Shifter

Oh the drama...enough said on that. I think some people are going to be nervous admitting they like Lynnderella. Well screw it...I don't necessarily agree with the business tactics but I like this freakin' polish. Can't help it. Shape Shifter has silver holographic glitter in a clear base. There's supposed to be different shapes throughout the bottle: butterflies, stars, hexes, bars, crescents and flowers.

As you can see in the picture above there are only hexes and bar glitter. I didn't really try that hard to look for the shapes. I've had this polish for six months (yes I'm now just swatching it, that's how behind I am) and I was lazy and shook it for 5 seconds. I did get some stars and crescents out but those ended up on my other hand (which I will not swatch, I hate it). This is 2 coats over Orly Out Of This World. I didn't have any curling or warped glitter (remember sat for 6 months). I did have to 'lay' the glitter on top but I don't really mind doing that. I topped everything off with Gelous and CG Fast Forward. Everything was smooth with no bumps.

So remember: I like the polish.
I need a more organized way to go about swatching my polishes. I still can't decide how I want to organize my polish in general. It's become this complex dilemma lol!

Maisie Shine Villain

First off, sorry the pictures aren't amazing. It has been rainy and cloudy for the past couple days. I haven't found the best place to take pictures in my house so I tried to make my own light-box. It involved white paper and scotch tape, very fancy lol!!
Below I have a polish from a newer indie polish maker. Maisie Shine Villain is a black base with silver, black and purple glitter. This is one coat over Man Glaze Carbon. The polish went on smooth and I didn't have any problems with the glitter. It did dry pretty quickly (which if you read on a regular basis is a big plus for me). It didn't dry super shiny. Again this doesn't bother me. I topped it with a coat of Gelous and SV.

Pretty and Polished Custom!!

A while back I ordered from Pretty and Polished. A color was missing from order. Wasn't a big deal. When my polish did arrive Chels included a custom polish!! I was shocked by the gesture. It made my day:) Check out the layering I did below.

I used 2 coats of China Glaze Virtual Violet and 2 coats of the custom Pretty and Polished (it doesn't have a name). It's like she read my mind on what I like in a nail polish color. I see silver, blue and purple!!

Until next time,

PS: Thank you Chels!!

Kismet's Pajamas

I have a lovely polish for you today. Kismet's Pajamas by Whimsical Ideas by Pam (which is named after her cat).
Where to start...So many amazing aspects about it.

Let's start with the bottle. Look at this! It's beautiful! The label, the bow, the freakin' bottle itself. Not only is it gorgeous but it's also professional! You can tell Pam takes her time here. Now to the polish...

Natural Sunlight
Kismet is a black jelly base with silver and pink glitter. It was very easy to apply and the glitter smoothed on evenly. It was opaque in 2 coats and dried relatively quick. I topped it with Cult Nail Wicked Fast.

Artificial Light
Seriously, go check out her Facebook page for more pictures and ordering information. I'm so impressed by her talent and professionalism! She has a customer for life!

Until next time,

Dollish Polish Does Barry Manilow Know You Raid His Wardrobe?

The longest name for a polish lol! I love it. Did you guys know the name comes from a quote from the Breakfast Club. Great movie. So lets call this Barry...Barry is a metallic pewter with different sized silver glitter. The formula was great considering the amount of glitter. It smoothed out perfectly. I only needed two coats and I thought it dried a little dull. I used Out The Door for the topcoat which doesn't really add a ton of shine.

I've decided I will know longer show my pointer finger in photos. I think it looks funny so...crop, crop and crop:) Also excuse the cuticles. I picked at them furiously while taking my test yesterday:(

Orly Velvet Rope

I wore this color a few weeks ago and I think it's fantastic. Orly Velvet Rope is a deep purple with fine silver glitter. This is a great if you want to wear a glitter but without the pain of taking it off. I hope you guys are enjoying the new layout of the posts!!

China Glaze Haunting

I apologize for the absent of posts this week. I worked a lot! I'm a server and worked 3 doubles (10-14 hour shifts) and I was exhausted. I also broke a nail pretty low on my left hand:(

Today I have China Glaze Haunting from the Halloween 2011 collection. I know it's pretty early for anything Halloween...but when a polish collection is available you have to snatch up the colors you want!
Haunting is a black with silver glitter. The formula was a little thick but easy to work with. I used two coats. I love this color and when I look at it I feel like I'm looking at the stars on my nails. (sorry for the chip in the polish...I'm doing this post after work).

China Glaze CG In The City and Skyscraper

Below we have the glitters from the China Glaze Metro Collection. First is CG In The City. It is a fine glitter with from what I see, purple, gold, silver and some bronze. I had to use three coats and topped with SV.

Skyscraper. This is a blue base with fine silver glitter. This is also three coats topped with SV.

Between the two glitters I prefer Skyscraper. It just pops more to me. I can see myself pulling for this one frequently. I would like to try CG In The City for layering.

China Glaze Westside Warrior With Platinum Pieces

Below we have Westside Warrior from China Glaze Metro Collection. It is a khaki olive green with a cream finish. The formula was okay. Not to thick or thin. I used two coats topped with SV. This isn't the most original green I've seen or have but it'll do.

I wanted to use more of my China Glaze metallic crackles so I put Platinum Pieces over Westside Warrior.

I think I used to thick of a coat because it didn't crack that well. I'm chalking that up to user error!
Have you guys seen any of the pictures of this years Cosmoprof? The upcoming collections are looking epic! I am so excited.

I'm Alive!!

Ok guys, sorry for the delay in posts. I did this little thing a few weeks ago...ya know getting married:) I was in Las Vegas for a week and it was wonderful. I've been back for two weeks but I got sick and was trying to get thank you notes done. Being a nail nut, I definitely searched for brands in Vegas that little Iowa does not have.

This beauty I have right here is Essence Can't Cheat On Me. It's a great holographic silver.

With the Essence bottles being on the smaller side I was worried about the brush being dinky and just crappy. Nope! The bristles were wonderful. It kind of reminded me of OPI pro brush.
Here's my problem. I want more! Ulta only has a small selection and its the Color and Go. Does anyone know where I can get some of their other polishes? I know they have nail art and also the magnetic polish. I would owe you a big one.

Just want to say that I am looking forward to the fall colors. Its going to be a awesome season!!

Until next time,

Don't spill you polish:)

Zoya Jules

I received this color when Zoya had its Intimate collection on sale for 25$. Jules is a sparkling neutral light taupe with gold, silver and champagne metallic shimmer. I was surprised I liked this color so much. I don't know if it necessarily goes with my skin tone but oh well. The formula was perfect. This is three coats topped with China Glaze Fast Forward.

Zoya keeps impressing me with their colors, promos, and definitely customer service. They are a great company!!!
I have been using Qtica Intense Cuticle Repair Balm. I like how it sinks into the skin. Now I just have to stop picking at my cuticles.

China Glaze Awaken

Awaken is from the Romantique collection that was from the 2009 China Glaze spring collection. This has become one of my favorite 'grays'. It is a blue-charcoal metallic. The formula wasn't to thick or to thin. This is two coats topped with Seche Vite. I think some metallics can look tacky. This was more subtle than others I've tried. Anyways, it's really nice out, I'm going to enjoy it!
