Weather Inspired Mani.....

Yep so this happened......

I took this yesterday morning after I got off work....we got 5 more inches after that.
So I busted out a little Manglaze and a smidge of Lacquistry Winter No. 2. for this mani below.
I bought this sucker back in 2013....I feel like I should be shamed for not using it till now.

This polish is made up of all kinds of glitter shapes: shreds, hexes, bars and squares. Blue/white/silver is the color theme.
I did one layer of Manglaze Mayo and one layer of Winter No. 2. I topped everything off with Girly Bits Glitter Glaze (review to come soon). Winter No. 2 is really easy to use and the glitter spread out nicely. All pictures were taken with artificial light since the sun doesn't exist in Iowa.

Magical Mystery Tour (Whimsical Ideas by Pam)

Well....Hellllooooo everyone!
Today I have something special for you.....Magical Mystery Tour by Whimsical Ideas by Pam. Let me tell you....she is in my top 5 favorite indie polish makers...I mean look at that freaking glitter, and the labels are so pretty (does she hand write them or print them), and she puts the cutest god damn bow on EVERY BOTTLE!! I display these bottles on my work area because they are so damn cute.
Ok, on to the polish.
Magical Mystery Tour is various sizes of bright blue glitter in a shimmery purple base. My 2 favorite colors. You'd think this would be thick but the purple base was a little sheer. I only had to use 3 coats and it dries fast. I have a hard time finding the right words to describe this polish. I mean look at it! AMAZING!!!

I love Pam's ordering process. Go to her Facebook page and check out her current list of polishes. Then just shoot her an email with your polish choices and she'll send you an invoice. I've never had a single problem ordering from her. I would like to own every bottle some day *sigh*!

Until next time,

Whoops!

Why whoops, well I thought I had this post set to be published a few days ago...uh no. But here it is for you now. I hope you guys are not getting sick of Pretty and Polished. Chels has been chugging out some awesome polishes! Today I have Mannequin Hands and Everybody Loves Penguin.
Your lovely bottle shots
Lets get the one that I wasn't crazy about out of the way first. Mannequin Hands is a flesh tone base with pastel pink glitter. Now all of the technical aspects were great: easy application (I only needed two coats), dried quickly, lasted three days without chipping. I just personally did not like the color against my skin tone. It gave me what I like to call lobster hands. I'm not a huge fan of pink polish so this was stepping outside the box.
Up close and personal
Next up is Everybody Loves Penguin. It is a white base (but not bright white) with medium hex yellow glitter and black hex glitter in a variety of sizes. I really liked this one. The concept is so simple but I don't have one like this in my collection. Surprisingly I only need to use two coats. The yellow glitter came out easily but I had to work hard to get out some of the black glitter. And I went digging for treasure looking for that big black hex on my pinkie!!
Up close and personal
It's just so cute!!

Lazy Day Manicure

Ok, I'm thinking of making this lazy day manicure into a weekly segment! Each week I'll take the manicure from the day before and try to 're-use' it. So yesterday I did a review for Lacquer Lust Snow Flurries. I spiced it up today with a little glitter from Lush Lacquer. I love my polishes from Lush Lacquer!!

First up is Winter Blues. This is a white and blue glitter with iridescent glitter scattered throughout. I think this is a classic Christmas combo. I used two coats because I wanted more coverage.

Next is Ho-Ho-Holidays. Another classic combo featuring different sized red, white and green glitter. I think next time I might layer this over a silver so the white can pop out better.

Lush Lacquer polishes are like glitter bombs waiting to explode. The bottles pack the heat....I mean glitter:) They are not hard to work with but I always try and take my time so the glitter is perfectly placed.
Hope you guys have wonderful Christmas!!

Until next time,

First Experience: Lacquer Lust

I have an awesome new polish brand (well new to me) to share with you guys today! Lacquer Lust...I came across this brand which searching on Etsy (which I can do for hours by the way). Specifically, I came across this little gem below...Snow Flurries. When I saw a swatch I seriously drooled a little. Seriously my husband saw it! Of course I hesitated and didn't order it right away. Then I noticed that the shop was now over on Big Cartel. Oh I hesitated again and it sold out. So I stalked the website and checked once a day....sad? Mmm no! Finally, some bottles were in stock! And the polish lived happily ever after....on my nails:)

This just isn't your normal white base with blue glitter. This is special. It has light blue holo glitter, blue flakies and iridescent glitter. I think this gives the base a very pretty blue tint. It was also a dream to apply. I only needed two coats to reach opacity. It dried in a decent time (I'm impatient so when a polish takes longer than 5 seconds to dry I feel like I'm losing my mind). I topped it with my trusty Sally Hansen Insta-Dry.

If you want Snow Flurries you can check out the store here. I'm hoping after Christmas I can splurge and buy the #hashtag Holo set because it looks sweet!

Snowflake Manicure

Here's my sad attempt at nail art. I was trying to make off-centered snowflakes. A lot of my family thought it was people standing in a circle holding hands lol. For the base I used one coat of Ninja Polish Sapphire Dreams. For my middle and pinkie finger I used one coat of Lynnderella Ice the Snowcake. For the 'snowflakes' I used a small dotting tool to make the lines and Sinful Color Snow Me White (it's the only white I have). I think it turned out alright:) Not too shabby for a novice.

Lazy Lazy Manicure!

I love, love, love this polish!!! This is Boy Bleu by Pretty and Polished. It is the 'boy version' of Punk'd Up Betty (review here) but has blue, black and white glitter. So why is this a lazy manicure? Well yesterday I did a review on P&P The Young Hero (here). All I did was add one coat of Boy Bleu over that manicure. I think it looks pretty sweet! Application was perfect and the glitter went on smooth.

Go check this polish out!

The Young Hero

Another wonderful polish from Pretty and Polished Mathematical collection. It is based on the character Finn The Human.

I am such a sucker for a white creme base polished. I knew I had to have this on! Along with the white base it has blue, yellow and green glitter. It applies similar to Jawbreaker. This is two coats topped with Sally Hansen Inst-Dri.

More Of The New Pretty and Polished

I have a couple more Pretty and Polished for you today: Xmas Wreath and Pretty as a Peacock

Xmas Wreath is a dark green polish with red, green and holo glitter. It's pretty, it's festive but not my favorite P&P I own. Maybe it's because there are so many holiday polishes out right now. Formula-wise it was a breeze. I did two coats and topped it with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

Ok, now Pretty as a Peacock is drop dead gorgeous. It's one of those polishes that looks better on nails than in the bottle. Peacock is an emerald green base with blue, teal, purple and green glitter. The formula was also perfect. The swatch is two coats topped with SH Inst-Dru. It seems that this color combo is popular right  now (well peacock colors in general).

Until next time,

Mathematical!!

Today I have a couple polishes from Pretty and Polished Mathematical collection: Peebles and My Lumps. The Mathematical collection is based off the children's show 'Adventure Time'. I totally had to google what it was because I had no idea.

First up is Peebles, which represents Princess Bubblegum.

Peebles is a pink squishy jelly with pink and yellow glitter. Since it is a jelly it went on sheer. I used 3 coats. The application is very easy and dries in an appropriate time. I'm not a huge fan of pink but I like this one a lot.

Next is My Lumps which represents Lumpy Space Princess (Okay seriously? How did they come up with that lol).

Lumps is a purple jelly with purple and gold shards. Not to be lame but this polish is actually lumpy. It can be tricky to apply. I didn't even notice the purple shards until I tried to apply it. It's a cool polish. Not my favorite of the collection but a good concept. I used three thinner coats to try and spread out the shards.

Oh and how awesome are the new P&P labels!! Love them!

My Surgery Day Manicure!

So yesterday I ended up having outpatient surgery. I had a kidney stone that would not pass. So my Doc had to scoop it out. Oh, and yes, as I'm writing this I'm slightly doped up lol.
I didn't purposely paint my nails for the surgery. I did them Wednesday night and found out they could fit me in for my surgery Thursday morning.

I used one coat of my favorite matte polish: Man Glaze Royal Matterimoaning, an awesome sapphire blue.

I then used two coats of Lynnderella Once In A Blue Rune. This color came out in her Halloween collection and can be found on ebay. The glitter was very easy to spread and work with.

Rune has cobalt holographic glitter with a hint of deep purple glitter. You can see all the different sizes and colors of glitter in the picture below.

Ok, well I think I'm going to take a nap now. Hope you enjoyed!

Darling Diva Polish: A Christmas Story

I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner! It came up so fast. And boy do I have a butt load of Christmas polishes I need to swatch! There is no rhyme or reason to how I choose the polish I will wear  everyday. The stuff is scattered all over my house: in my room, on the coffee table, kitchen, husbands office, etc, oh and yes even the bathroom.
Any who, below we have Darling Diva Polish: A Christmas Story. Yes it is named after the movie about a young boy wanting his RED RYDER BB GUN!!

It's a pretty sweet polish containing both red and holographic green microglitters. It's pretty much the epitome of Christmas. I decided to not layer this over anything, so what you see is 3 coats. It dried fast and slightly dull/gritty, but with a good topcoat that was not an issue. I used China Glaze Fast Forward. Now I do want to warn you that this polish is a thick SOB!! But Miss DDP does warn you in the description at her store. She does not cut her base. This way you can adjust it to your comfort level. Well before I did that I wanted to try it straight up. It was worth the work!

I bought this during her awesome Black Friday deal and received it in record time (I bought way way too much polish on Black Friday btw!). Go check her store out on Etsy here and for updates check out her FB page here.
